Cory Ripley, Creative Director and Principal of Exhibit A: Design Group, has been appointed to the Program Advisory Committee for the Graphic Design for Marketing program 2024-2027 at The Wilson School of Design, Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU).

This new role enables Ripley to collaborate with a select group of education and design industry leaders to ensure that KPU’s design curriculum remains aligned with current market trends and industry standards.

As a committee member, Ripley brings his extensive knowledge of design thinking, brand design, and marketing strategy to help shape the next generation of graphic design professionals. The committee also focuses on key areas such as addressing challenges in student enrolment, the opportunities and risks associated with artificial intelligence (AI), and how these developments are impacting the design industry.

“I’m excited to work alongside my colleagues on the advisory committee to help guide the future of design education”, states Ripley.

“As the industry evolves rapidly, it’s crucial to adapt to new technologies, like AI, that are reshaping the way we approach design. On top of that, we need to explore creative solutions to ongoing challenges like enrolment and ensure that KPU continues to produce highly-skilled, industry-ready graduates.”

Alongside industry peers in the Program Advisory Committee, Ripley provides knowledge that the curriculum stays current with technological advancements and industry needs. The committee’s role is to provide guidance on how to integrate emerging technologies and respond to shifting market demands, ensuring that KPU’s students are prepared for the challenges and opportunities they will face after graduation.

The design landscape is changing in ways that we didn’t anticipate even a few years ago. AI and advancing technologies and tools, for example, are reshaping design practices, and it’s vital that the next generation of designers are prepared to work alongside this technology, understanding its potential and limitations. I’m thrilled to be part of this discussion at KPU,”, Ripley continues.

The Program Advisory Committee plays an instrumental role in enhancing the curriculum by offering hands-on experience and guidance in the areas of design strategy, visual communication, and industry practices. The committee also ensures that KPU’s students graduate work-ready, equipped with the most current skills in design technology and market-driven expertise.
